Service Fee Policy
Last updated: 2025-12-01
Who this applies to: Buyers who complete a purchase via Tise at checkout.
Status: This Policy forms part of, and is incorporated into, the Tise User Terms of Service ("Terms"). In case of a conflict, the Terms prevail.
1. What is the Service Fee?
The Service Fee is a fee paid by the buyer for the use of our marketplace and safety and support features. It is not an insurance product, guarantee, or any form of buyer‑protection program. It is not paid to the seller.
2. When do we charge it?
We charge the Service Fee when you place an order through Tise checkout.
3. How we calculate it
The Service Fee is calculated as a flat percentage of the item price (before delivery/ shipping and taxes).
One Service Fee applies per order. If you add multiple items to a single order, the Service Fee will be based on the combined price (excluding delivery/ shipping and taxes) of the items you purchase in that order.
The Service Fee is generally applied at a standard rate across all buyers. However, from time to time, we may offer limited-duration promotions or conduct controlled tests that result in certain groups of buyers being shown a different Service Fee.
You may redeem Tise points to obtain a discount on the Service Fee in accordance with the Tise Points Terms and Conditions. Please see our Tise Points Help page for more information.
4. Display and transparency commitments
The Service Fee is always included in the price shown on listing pages. We do not add Service Fees late in the transaction flow. You will be shown what you will pay upfront, excluding delivery/ shipping fees, which are added on the screen where you place your bid, as these may change depending on your chosen service and location (although an estimate of shipping fees may be shown earlier where possible).
You can see an itemised breakdown including the exact amount of Service Fee if you click the link under the price shown on each listing page. You will also have the opportunity to see an itemised breakdown that shows the Service Fee before placing a bid.
5. Taxes and currency
Where required by law, we apply Goods and Services Tax ("GST") or other sales or consumption taxes to our Service Fee. Prices will be displayed to users inclusive of such taxes where applicable.
Unless otherwise stated, all amounts shown, including the Service Fee, are quoted in Australian Dollars. Currency conversion (if any), and any fees for conversion services, is handled by your payment provider. Tise does not set exchange rates.
See the Fees and Payments sections of the Terms for more on taxes and charges.
6. Refunds of the Service Fee
If an order is cancelled by the seller or Tise before fulfillment, your item is not delivered because it was lost in transit or your item is damaged in transit and you are unable to use the item due to the damage, we will refund the Service Fee.
Other than in the situation described above (item damaged in transit), the Service Fee is not refundable after you receive your item, including when you return your item for any reason (for example, because you change your mind or because you have an issue with the item you have received), even if the return is accepted by the seller. This is because the Service Fee represents the service we have already provided to you for that purchase. See the Terms for return and shipping arrangements between buyers and sellers.
This does not and is not intended to, alter or affect your other statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. Prohibited fee circumvention
Directing or asking a seller to complete a transaction off Tise after connecting through Tise (to avoid the Service Fee) is not allowed. We may limit or suspend accounts or take other enforcement action in accordance with the Terms if this occurs.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy (including the way in which the Service Fee is calculated) in line with the Terms.
